Bayfield – The Move Up North
The hike above the sea caves was raw and a little dangerous, without any railing to prevent getting too close to the cliff edge. But the view down into the bays were magical, with the shimmering water lapping into the caves carved deep into the colorful stone walls.

We had been visiting Bayfield for years, mostly to visit relatives but now we live here. We made the move up from the cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN) over three years ago to retire. Kathy, my wife, worked from home for over a year before cutting the strings to the old life. We were ready for adventure and a very relaxed, peaceful environment.
We were lucky to make so many friends almost instantly because Kathy’s cousin lived there and introduced us to her large circle of friends. The locals refer to going down to the Binn (Bayfield Inn lounge) on Friday nights as “going to church” (no disrespect intended). In a small town you run into the same people frequently, so that made it easier get to know people. We have more fun here, with a busier social life than we ever had in the city.
There is so much to do in Bayfield. Concerts in parks, vineyard, church, pubs, nightclub, casino, and the mighty Bigtop (circus tent). There are crafts, book signings, hiking, biking (even the eBikes with the fat tires), beaches, fishing, and berry picking. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer. We volunteer at the Bayfield Maritime Museum and also at fundraising events for the Lake Superior Tall Ships organization.
Retirement has been idyllic these past few years but I am itching to get back to the work I love, which is creating effective websites for other entrepreneurs. So we just put up this website and are hanging our shingle out to say Open for Business. Please, introduce me to anyone that may need either a new or perhaps updated website.
If you haven’t been to Bayfield, you really should make it up here for a vacation.
